How it works

Climate Lab serves as a central hub connecting individuals from corporations, the administrative sector, start-ups, science as well as the public to forge cross-industry alliances to combat climate change and foster a circular economy in Austria. The project primarily focuses on industries with the highest potential for reducing emissions and switching to a circular economy, including the energy, mobility, construction and housing sectors. There are no restrictions or limitations regarding projects or ideas, which has proven to be an effective strategy: Since 2022 a total of 11 cross-industry projects have been implemented, with another 14 initiated.

In addition, Climate Lab regularly hosts events on the topic of climate neutrality (with over 6,000 participants since 2022) and provides more than 250 start-up founders, freelancers, experts, and committed members of civil society—who focus their work on climate action and/or the circular economy—with co-working spaces, offices, and a community of like-minded people.

The Big Picture

Climate change affects all of us – and the only way to fight it is together. Climate Lab is a prime example of how the necessary alliances can be forged and implemented across companies, cities and entire industries to offer new and innovative solutions. Moreover, the concept is not limited to a single issue, and can be applied to many other topics of significant public interest – highlighting how much of a difference cross-industry collaborations can make when it comes to working towards a common goal.
