Digital document archiving for notaries

Since 2007, submissions to Austrian courts can only be made electronically, with original documents required to be transferred from specially qualified electronic archives. Enter cyberDOC: Austria’s innovative electronic document archive for notaries which securely stores millions of highly confidential documents, and directly delivers them to the court and clients – speeding up the data management process by eliminating the need to access sensitive paperwork through physical archives or carrying out lengthy research.

How it works

Document management made easy: cyberDOC has been leading the way in electronic archiving and delivery of notarial deeds in Europe since its conception in 2000, providing quick and easy access to digitalized notarial deeds and records. Today, cyberDOC is the trusted platform for a wide range of innovative services for the judiciary and administration, as well as businesses and consumers. With a total of just under 13 million archived deeds, 2.7 million of which are notarial deeds, notaries are able to instantly access important documents from anywhere in Austria without having to travel to physical archives or carrying out time-consuming research – significantly speeding up the workflow.

With cyberDOC, notaries enjoy the same level of security and confidentiality they’ve come to expect throughout the paper days. All documents are encrypted in line with the latest state-of-the-art technology, granting access exclusively to persons associated with the notary. They are redundantly stored in a high-security data center, with data tapes stored in the federal government‘s high-security data center for extra security. To protect against phishing and hacker attacks, no data is transmitted via the web. Plus, elaborate technologies ensure that all stored documents remain unaltered and readable in the long term.

The Big Picture

With the introduction of cyberDOC, a new milestone in speed, efficiency and legal compliance has been set for electronic legal transactions. However, on top of playing a significant role in streamlining the archiving and document delivery process across the judiciary and notary system, there are plenty of benefits for consumers, too: The digitisation of documents ensures that these are permanently and easily retrievable, and effectively protected against damage or loss – giving citizens peace of mind knowing that their documents will be stored securely at all times, and accessible whenever they are needed.
