Cybersecurity Monitoring
Central platform for implementing the national cybersecurity strategy
As digitalization progresses, the reliance on stable and secure digital infrastructures increases. Strengthening Austria’s digital resilience in a sustainable way requires the effective implementation of the national cybersecurity strategy. The Cybersecurity Monitoring Platform supports the federal government in centrally managing strategic measures and transparently documenting progress.
Quick Facts
How it works
The Austrian Reporting Platform brings together various applications, each with a specific focus: In the area of cybersecurity monitoring, the focus is on centrally managing the implementation of the national cybersecurity strategy and transparently documenting its progress.
The application serves as a cross-ministerial tracking tool for all measures of Austria’s cybersecurity strategy. Around 170 measures (as of the end of 2023) are entered and continuously updated on the platform by the responsible ministries. Individual measures can be marked as public or non-public, allowing for flexible handling. Twice a year, a progress report is published, documenting the development of cybersecurity measures and making it available to the public. The data is primarily entered manually by the ministries.
The Federal Chancellery (BKA) is responsible for strategic coordination of cybersecurity matters at both national and European levels, working closely with the Ministry of the Interior and other departments. Within the BKA, Department I/8 (Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection) is responsible for operational implementation. The platform enables unified management and facilitates coordination among all involved ministries.
The Big Picture
Through the structured and standardized collection of measures, the platform ensures not only national implementation but also supports international coordination. It thus plays a crucial role in enhancing digital security and increasing transparency regarding Austria’s cybersecurity strategy.
