Monitoring, controlling and reporting of programmes
Data-driven monitoring and reporting of public programs
Reliable data is the foundation of evidence-based political decision-making. The Austrian Reporting Platform is Austria’s central solution for the efficient collection, analysis, and visualization of administrative data—across departmental boundaries. It supports ministries, public authorities, and programme managers in the standardized implementation of monitoring, controlling, and reporting tasks and is thus an essential tool for data-driven public administration.
Quick Facts
How it works
The Austrian Reporting Platform combines various applications, each with a specific focus. Every use case within the platform addresses a particular aspect of administration – ranging from program monitoring and digital transformation projects to climate reporting.
The application for monitoring, controlling, and reporting of programs is modular in structure and combines a wide range of digital technologies to provide a flexible, secure, and scalable solution. Relevant administrative data is collected, either manually entered or automatically imported via standardized interfaces. The platform supports both direct data entry and uploads—for example, via Excel files or REST interfaces for app-to-app communication.
A central component is the BI library, which is based on international IBCS® standards and ensures a consistent visual representation of all data. Visualizations, dashboards, and analyses are built on a modern reporting stack using Power BI.
The platform is enhanced with intelligent technologies such as machine learning, predictive analytics, chatbots, a workflow engine, and a central notification center. All activities are documented in a secure and auditable manner through audit logging.
Operated by the Austrian Federal Chancellery, the platform is available to nearly all federal ministries and specialized departments. Applications for diverse areas—from digital transformation to climate reporting—can be efficiently implemented on a shared technical foundation. The platform offers not only tools but also a comprehensive set of shared services that support the development of new solutions.
The Big Picture
The Austrian Reporting Platform brings a new level of quality to the digital governance of public programmes. It enables standardized processes, promotes transparency, and facilitates cross-departmental collaboration through consistent and comparable data. A key advantage lies in the reusability of technologies and processes, which reduces development efforts while increasing quality and security.
By integrating innovative analytical functions and intelligent automation, the platform supports a modern, data-driven public administration – with a clear focus on efficiency, traceability, and citizen-centricity. Programmes such as the monitoring of the government programme, the tracking of digitalization initiatives, reporting within the Austrian Recovery and Resilience Plan, or the DSI dashboard for digital skills development demonstrate the platform’s broad range of applications.
The platform is therefore far more than a technical tool—it is a strategic instrument for modern public governance.
